The 8th International Nanomedicine and Drug Delivery Symposium will feature presentations by more than 20 internationally-renowned experts highlighting ground-breaking new discoveries in the field, a poster session with oral presentations of selected posters, and a roundtable discussion involving leading scientists from both industry and academia. As revolutionary advances in this area require collaboration amongst researchers working in a diverse array of fields including nanotechnology, materials science, imaging, cell biology, tissue engineering, drug and gene delivery as well as clinical research, scientists and managers from all levels, as well as students and post-doctoral fellows, are invited and encouraged to participate.
Nanomedicine: NBM Honorary Editorial Board member Alexander Kabanov, PhD, DSc, will serve as Chair of the NanoDDS meeting.
This year, ASNM has worked closely with the HIV/AIDS Research Program at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), the result of which is a dovetailed conference with a special focus on exploring the use of nanotechnology to address HIV/AIDS-specific research questions and clinical applications. ASNM, in conjunction with the HIV/AIDS Research Program, will host a workshop in which nanomedicine researchers and HIV/AIDS investigators will share strategies and methods to address their respective challenges. The conference will afford a unique opportunity to catalyze interactions between investigators. We would like to devote an ample amount of time to fostering these relationships, so that researchers from both disciplines can expand and apply their newly-blended strategies and knowledge to advance their own studies. The first half of the conference will focus on this joint effort while the second half will focus primarily on capturing the recent novel developments in the field of nanomedicine broadly.
NANOSMAT-5: 5th International Conference on Surfaces, Coatings, and Nanostructured Materials (http://www.nanosmat-conference.com/)
October 19-21, 2010, Reims, France
NANOSMAT-5 will continue to foster the gathering of talented people from around the world to exchange ideas and information. The conference will thereby provide a platform for interactions between researchers; scientists and engineers from industry, research laboratories and academia, and it will feature state-of-the-art developments in all aspects of processing, characterisation and applications of nanostructured materials. A major purpose of NANOSMAT conferences is to foster collaborations among scientists, engineers, researchers and industrialists, and thus to stimulate future technological developments. The event will provide ample opportunity for conference delegates to network in a friendly and supportive environment.
Donald Haynie, PhD, Associate Editor of Nanomedicine: NBM organizes a nanomedicine session at NANOSMAT.
The application of nanotechnology will have a major influence in many fields of medicine. Novel nano-based materials appear in drug delivery systems, diagnostics, imaging, biosensing, and medical materials and devices. This conference aims to provide detailed understanding and discuss the clinical utility of those areas of nanomedicine which are close to application or already clinically applied/on the market. Invited international experts active in nanomedicine development from industry, clinic and academia will give in-depth lectures on the state-of-the-art including a critical analysis of the likely impact on human healthcare. Spotlights will also be put on new possibilities arising in the near future.
